Krishnagiri Fort
Krishnagiri Kottai
Last reviewed:

Krishnagiri Fort crowns a steep granite hill above the town that shares its name — both are widely associated with Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara Empire, in whose era (16th century) the hill fort took its present form. It later passed to the Mysore Kingdom under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan and then to the British. Its ramparts incorporate the hill's natural rock formations, and remnants of granaries, magazines and cannon emplacements survive on the summit.
